Martie Sirois is a blogger/writer/speaker about her journey raising three children, the youngest of whom is a transgender tween. As a writing contributor, her published work has been front-page featured content on The Huffington Post, Medium, Scary Mommy, The Good Men Project, and That Odd Mom, to name a few. Other media networks have syndicated her work worldwide.

Martie, along with her husband and youngest of three children were invited to tell their unscripted story on the TED and Peabody Award-winning podcast, StoryCorps, and were chosen to be a featured story airing during the fall of 2017. Martie’s LTYM piece was also selected to be on the LTYM YouTube channel, as a selection on the Featured Videos 2016 playlist. She has also enjoyed guest lecturing at NC State University, and presenting on gender inclusion for school guidance counselors.

Martie is also the founder and program manager of S.E.A.R.CH. (Safe Environment for the Acceptance of Rainbow CHildren), a TGNC (trans and/or gender non-conforming) kids’ playgroup & parent discussion group, and permanent, year-round program of The LGBT Center of Raleigh. S.E.A.R.CH. also has a secret Facebook group to connect with a broader group of parents and allies. Additionally, Martie has served on the Southern Advisory Board of The Family Equality Council, has presented in training workshops for the Safe Schools of NC annual LGBT Conference for Educators, and was instrumental in working with the California organization Gender Spectrum and persuading Executive Director and author, Lisa Kenney, to travel across the country to present a much needed gender workshop for parents of TGNC youth in North Carolina.
